Italian sources: West Ham back in for Dia

Il Mattino is reporting that Salernitana want to raise some cash by shipping out the 27-year-old for around £13-14m.

And the outlet states that West Ham are still interested in bringing Dia to east London. It also claims Napoli are rivalling the Hammers for Dia.

The hard-working forward can play across the frontline but has never been a hugely prolific goalscorer.

That being said he netted a goal every other game in Serie A last season with 16 in 33 appearances.

The alleged West Ham target also netted 16 goals for Reims when the Hammers wanted to sign him the first time around but he ended up joining Villarreal.

Reported interest tallies with top source’s info

He flopped with the Yellow Submarine scoring seven goals in 35 games.

Now Salernitana want to try and flog the star who has scored four in 10 so far this season.

The report states West Ham are ready to make an offer and claims they can beat Napoli and other Premier League sides Wolves and Newcastle to Dia’s signature.

One thing to consider is that Dia has been named in Senegal’s squad for AFCON.

And that tallies with information the top source inside West Ham told us regarding the club’s January window targets.

West Ham certainly need a new forward.

That was clear for all to see in the drab 0-0 draw against Brighton. And with Michail Antonio turning 34 in March, the issue isn’t going to ease without action.
