Insider lifts lid on truth behind bust-up between David Moyes and West Ham star Tomas Soucek

An insider has lifted the lid on the truth behind a reported bust-up between David Moyes and West Ham star Tomas Soucek.

Rumours have abound for some time that all was not well behind the scenes between the big Czech favourite and West Ham’s manager.

Soucek was saw his role in the West Ham team turned on its head last term to accommodate a new rampaging role for Declan Rice.

As a result Soucek’s output was well down for West Ham in an attacking sense. And the midfield ace looked like a fish out of water for West Ham for most of the campaign.

Moyes even admitted last season that selfless Soucek was suffering for the sake of Rice.

Reports from the likes of Football Insider recently claimed relations between the Hammers boss and Soucek had soured as a result.

And Football Insider even claimed West Ham were now willing to sell Soucek.

That has left some Hammers fans worrying the club’s direction after two brilliant seasons.

Now a West Ham insider has lifted the lid on the truth behind the bust-up between Moyes and West Ham star Soucek.

Speaking to Claret and Hugh, a high level West Ham insider claims Moyes sparked the fallout by refusing to green light a new contract for the big Czech on around £95k per week.

“We understand that clubs first became interested a couple of months ago when it became clear that manager David Moyes was unready to offer the  27 year old an improved deal,” Claret and Hugh claim.

“After negotiations following his Hammer of the Year winning season he had hoped for an increase of approaching £100,000  following the arrival of Kurt Zouma on a reported £125,000 a week.

“But his representatives were shocked when the Hammers boss allegedly made it clear that he was unready to recommend such a deal.

“That left the player unhappy that he wasn’t considered good enough for such a rise even after a brilliant season and of course may have affected his form this term beyond the manager’s decision to use him a different role to that of his first superb season.”

This is a seriously unwelcome and unexpected distraction for West Ham going into the summer window.

Soucek on his day is one of the most influential midfielders around.

Indeed he is one of – if not the – central figures of Moyes’s rebuild at West Ham around hardworking, honest players who give their all for the Hammers.

When used in his correct role he actually impacts the game in an attacking sense, something Rice did not do anything like enough last season.

With so many players leaving and at least seven new signings needed in a big rebuild this summer, having to potentially replace Soucek could make for a difficult and disappointing window for Moyes and West Ham.
