West Ham boss David Moyes has been told he has no money for transfers this summer (Claret & Hugh).

It is supposedly as a result of West Ham’s financial problems.

The east Londoners are said to have a £70million hole in their finances as a result of the global health crisis and underperformance in the league last season – read full story.

Cash-strapped West Ham quiet in transfer market

Therefore Moyes must sell to buy.

But offloading highly paid, underperforming players in the current climate is next to impossible.

The £5million sale of Albian Ajeti to Celtic is merely enough to cover the unpaid installment to Eintracht Frankfurt for Sebastien Haller.

So far the only business West Ham have done is turning Tomas Soucek’s loan deal into a permanent one.

It has been slow going for Moyes other than that.

That is much to the frustration of West Ham fans with the season less than a month away and having narrowly avoided relegation last term.

Hammers fans not buying pandemic poverty line as rival Prem clubs get active

Adding to the festering sense of anger and resentment towards owners David Sullivan and David Gold is the fact that at least 14 Premier League clubs are already actively involved in transfer business.

The latest is Sheffield United who have had an £18.5million bid accepted by Bournemouth for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale (Sky Sports).

West Ham fans are not buying the board’s use of the pandemic as an excuse.

But there could be some light in the transfer tunnel today.

That’s after reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee teased a transfer update on social media.

Insider teases West Ham transfer update

Taking to Twitter, the anonymous ITK personality pledged to make a transfer update on his West Ham Way Instagram account and Twitter on Sunday.

“I will provide a transfer update on our Instagram at some point tomorrow (Sunday),” ExWHUemployee posted on Twitter.

“Get following…

“Yes this is just a one off and it will get tweeted here immediately anyway,” he responded when asked if the update will also be shared on Twitter.

It comes after Ex told the latest West Ham Way podcast that his hunch is that the owners will ‘find money from somewhere’ to do deals this summer.

Ex’s announcement of an incoming transfer update instantly set tongues wagging among Hammers supporters.

Some are speculating that a deal has been struck with Brighton for experienced defender Shane Duffy.

Others believe a buyer may have been found for Felipe Anderson – which in turn could provide much-needed funds for Moyes to go after his prime targets such as Eberechi Eze.

It seems all will be revealed at some point today.
