West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has delivered a bleak opinion on the club’s hopes of signing Jesse Lingard.

It is the worst kept secret in football that David Moyes wants to sign Lingard permanently this summer after his sensational spell on loan at West Ham from Manchester United during the second half of last season.

Many West Ham fans were devastated to hear Lingard had reportedly decided he wanted to stay and fight for his place at Man United (The Sun).

Hammers insider ExWHUemployee backed up those claims with his own Lingard update recently, conceding the midfield ace looked more likely to stay at Man United than sign for West Ham.

Lingard saga has more twists and turns than a rollercoaster

That was the latest twist in the Lingard saga after ExWHUemployee had previously revealed that Lingard had been telling his Hammers teammates he wanted to sign permanently.

There was renewed hope for West Ham this week, though, when the player himself finally spoke about his future for the first time since the end of his Hammers loan move.

And it appeared to be great news for Moyes as Lingard said the thing that matters most to him is regular game time.

That’s something the 28-year-old surely will not be getting back at Man United where he had barely featured for two years before signing for West Ham.

Insider ExWHUemployee guesses West Ham’s Lingard chances are now just 30% after conversation he had

But speaking on the latest West Ham Way podcast (recorded June 21st), Ex said he guesses the chances of Lingard joining have dropped to just 30% after a conversation he had recently with someone ‘who would know the player well’.

“This (percentage) is just a guess, it’s not factual, well it’s based upon a few things that I know but obviously as I said earlier a decision has not been made (by Man United or Lingard over his future),” Ex said on The West Ham Way podcast (June 21st).

“So it could go either way depending on what promise of football Manchester United give him, what salary they give him etc etc.

‘It indicated to me he was more keen to get back to Man United and establish himself there’

“But I think I would maybe say, 30% (chance) he will come to West Ham. It is my opinion – and I’m not ruling anything out.

“I would have said a lot higher a couple of weeks ago, 85/90%.

“It’s just based upon a conversation I had the other day with someone that would know him well and it indicated to me that he was more keen to get back to Manchester United and establish himself there than to move and be good at West Ham. But I guess time will tell.”
