David Moyes has made a cunning move which could help West Ham United sign players this summer.

Moyes has repeatedly made it very clear – as recently as the end of the season in an in-depth interview with The Daily Mail – that West Ham’s recruitment department needs to be completely overhauled.

The Scot delivered a stark warning to co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold in an interview with The Evening Standard last season that West Ham are lagging behind every other Premier League club in terms transfer operations.

It was revealed by The Daily Mail earlier this week that Moyes has moved to employ his son, David junior, as part of a new team of scouts.

We at Hammers News pointed out the fact Moyes Junior used to work for Wasserman – a sports marketing and talent management company.

The firm look after some seriously good players including the likes of Fede Valverde, Aymeric Laporte, Harvey Barnes, John Stones and Houssem Aouar (Transfermarkt).

There are some eight reported West Ham targets on their books as well.

So there may be a clear method to Moyes’s appointment given how well connected his son likely is.

And according to West Ham insider ExWHUemployee, Moyes Junior’s contacts could well help the Hammers make signings this summer.

Speaking on the latest West Ham Way podcast, Ex also told Hammers fans they should not be worried about nepotism after Moyes’s brother was supposedly involved in the disastrous £9m signing of Jordan Hugill during the manager’s first spell at the club.

“He’s (Moyes) appointed his son David Moyes junior to be a scout for us now,” ExWHUemployee said on the latest West Ham Way podcast.

‘In some ways it could be good’

“Obviously you think ‘Oh God not another family affair’ because his brother was the one that sort of signed Hugill. But in some ways it could be good because he is a former employee of Wasserman, who is an agen(cy) who had a number of players – particularly ones that we’ve looked at.

“So he might bring a bit more quality to the recruitment, I’m not sure.”

In other West Ham news, one of the club’s new kits should be unveiled tomorrow (Friday July 2nd).

And the players are back for pre-season training, although there is some uncertainty over the management team to kick things off.
