Insider denies David Moyes claim and outlines big West Ham summer transfer plan

A Hammers insider has denied a David Moyes claim and outlined his big West Ham United summer transfer plan.

West Ham fans are still coming to terms with the heartbreaking Europa League semi-final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt.

There are rumours about the future of West Ham’s best players such as Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen.

And former Hammer Joe Cole even sparked speculation over the future of Moyes given the job he has done in east London over the last two years.

“I think he’s at the peak of his career, he is a better manager now than when he took the Manchester United – he’s gone away, looked at things, has improved,” Cole said on BT Sport after West Ham’s semi-final defeat in Germany.

“There will be suitors for David Moyes from what he has done at this club because it has been 40 odd years since West Ham have been at this stage of a [European] competition before and it’s been on a budget at well. It’s a small squad, he’s done very well.”

But West Ham fans should not fret because a high level source at the club has reassured supporters on two fronts.

A Hammers insider has denied the Moyes claim and outlined there are big West Ham summer transfer plans.

“The manager couldn’t be happier with things at the club,” a West Ham insider told Claret and Hugh.

“He is the perfect fit for us and vice versa. His work is only just starting with us.

“There’s a big summer ahead when we will need several new players and that will be very much on his mind at the moment.

“He has two years left on his deal and there’s absolutely no need to extend that at this stage – both sides are very happy with the way things are right now.”

Moyes does indeed face a major rebuild at West Ham this summer.

He needs between six to 10 signings as there are a host of players whose contracts are ending, retiring or clearly not in the manager’s plans.

Mark Noble, Andriy Yarmolenko, Alex Kral, Ryan Fredericks, Darren Randolph, Arthur Masuaku and David Martin fall into those categories.

The future of soon-to-be 34-year-old Angelo Ogbonna and on loan goalkeeper Alphonse Areola needs to be settled too.

West Ham are expected to try and hand the defender a new one-year deal and sign the goalkeeper on a permanent basis.

There has also been speculation over the future of Issa Diop and Manuel Lanzini.
