Insider claims West Ham have made a decision about Manuel Lanzini

According to a report from Claret and Hugh, West Ham United could look to sell Manuel Lanzini this summer.

The Hammers are allegedly trying to offload the Argentinian ace for around £15 million.

Lanzini joined West Ham on a permanent deal in the summer of 2016 for around £9 million (Daily Mail) having impressed during a loan spell in East London the season before.

He enjoyed a brilliant first couple of seasons with the Hammers.

The 28-year-old’s fall from grace over the past few years really has been rather dramatic, however.

His form has dipped since he suffered a serious injury in the build up to the 2018 World Cup. Lanzini just seems to be an absolute shadow of his former self.

Aside from his wonder goal away at Tottenham earlier this season, the South American has contributed little.

Claret and Hugh claims that David Moyes will try to move Lanzini on from the London Stadium in the summer for around £15 million.

If we’re being honest, £15 million for Lanzini would be extraordinary considering just how poor he has been over the past 18 months.

Moving him on this summer will definitely be the right decision, however. West Ham have plenty of players who operate in Lanzini’s position.

The likes of Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals and Jesse Lingard are all far superior to the Argentinian play-maker. If we make Lingard’s deal permanent at the end of the season, it is hard to envisage a scenario where Lanzini would be playing regularly.

And if the Hammers sell Manu in the summer, David Moyes will hopefully then have the opportunity to invest that money straight back into his squad in areas that are in need of urgent attention.
