West Ham could be interested in a short-term loan deal for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, according to a report from Claret and Hugh.

Hammers boss David Moyes could be looking for centre-forward reinforcements in January.

Sebastien Haller is still struggling to impress and whilst Michail Antonio is incredibly important to us, he cannot always be relied upon from a fitness perspective.

West Ham sold Albian Ajeti and Jordan Hugill in the summer. So bringing another centre-forward to the London Stadium in January would be a smart move from Moyes.

Claret and Hugh reckons the Hammers could move for Chelsea hitman Olivier Giroud when the transfer window reopens. The 101-capped France international is apparently frustrated with his lack of game-time at Stamford Bridge, with Euro 2021 just seven months away.

We have been linked with Giroud numerous times before, most recently in January of this year (The Sun).

The Chelsea hitman is 34 now. He could definitely still do a job for West Ham up until the end of the season, however.

The Frenchman’s hold-up play is truly exceptional and perhaps Sebastien Haller could learn a lot from the Chelsea front-man.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger once described Giroud as an ‘exceptional striker’ (The Telegraph).

His age may well put off some Hammers fans. His undoubted quality should override that, however. Certainly if we end up signing him on a short-term deal.

David Moyes should not hesitate to bring the Chelsea ace to West Ham in January. Frank Lampard will surely be happy to let the Frenchman leave Stamford Bridge, considering the options he has at his disposal.

So signing Giroud on loan should not be problematic at all for the Hammers.
