Hammers boss David Moyes says someone has tipped him off on a player West Ham United should sign this summer.

David Moyes faces another rebuild at West Ham in the summer transfer window.

Declan Rice is set to leave a massive hole in West Ham’s midfield and dressing room while long-serving Manuel Lanzini has also been released.

The Hammers are short in key areas and there is speculation Gianluca Scamacca could leave to make the need for a new forward even more acute.

West Ham are one of just three Premier League clubs yet to sign a player this window. And the new Premier League season starts at Bournemouth in precisely one month.

Some fans are growing increasingly frustrated at the lack of transfer activity. Particularly given West Ham flirted with relegation for much of last season.

But there was an exciting claim this week regarding a list of targets drawn up by new technical director Tim Steidten.

Now Moyes himself has opened up – somewhat – on his summer plans.

Speaking in Australia, the Scot says he will be looking to reshape West Ham’s midfield because replacing Rice ‘like-for-like’ simply won’t be possible.

And Moyes says someone has tipped him off on a player West Ham should sign this summer.

‘We can’t replace Dec like-for-like but we’ll add to the squad’

“I have kept an eye on Australian football and the national team as well because we’re always looking to see which players are coming to the fore,” Moyes said in a press-conference Down Under.

“We know a little bit about it, but not as much as you guys will do! I know West Ham signed Stan Lazaridis after he played against us here in Perth in 1995 and, of course, we will be on the lookout (for any players with potential).

“Someone has already tipped me off on a player, but I won’t tell you which one!

“Of course, it’s part of the job to see what else is out there…

“I don’t think we can replace Declan like for like, but we’ll add to the squad as time goes on. We won’t be giving you any names or any thoughts on what we’re going to do.”
