Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of West Ham star Declan Rice and the Arsenal boss may be able to sign him for around £88 million in the summer.

That’s according to the likes of The Daily Mail and The Sun who claim that Arsenal could mount an assault on West Ham in the summer transfer window.

Rice is said to be available for around £88 million (The Sun).

Now, losing Rice is something that will be a massive blow for the Hammers – but it is something that we have all pretty much come to terms with now.

David Moyes admitted that Dec could leave if West Ham’s £100 million+ valuation of the 23-year-old is met. He clearly wants to play Champions League football, and that’s something that Arsenal will almost certainly be able to offer him next season.

So could the Gunners prise Rice away from the London Stadium in the summer?

The 23-year-old England international midfielder is allegedly on the Gunners’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.

Now, losing Dec will obviously be a massively bitter pill to swallow for the Hammers.

I like to think that the club have a plan in place for when he leaves though – because it’s definitely happening whether we like it or not.

The key will be getting maximum value for the the 23-year-old. And in actual fact, £88 million wouldn’t be too bad, considering the fact that he will only have two years remaining on his deal at the London Stadium in the summer.

Ideally, I would like Rice to join a foreign club when he eventually leaves West Ham.

The fact that he will most likely leave us for one of our London rivals is a really hard thought to accept.

As mentioned earlier though, getting plans in place for life with him at the London Stadium is the most important thing for West Ham.

Arsenal signing Declan Rice would be a huge move for them. The Hammers star would be the ideal successor to Thomas Partey in the middle of the park. Described by The Evening Standard as ‘world-class’, he certainly has the talent and ability to help take Arsenal to another level entirely.

I still hold out feint hope that Declan Rice will start at West Ham – it’s an unrealistic one I know, but there is obviously still a very small chance of that happening.

Arsenal appears to be in a. strong position to sign Declan Rice though.

And if he joins the Gunners in the summer, I’m sure most fans will always keep an eye on Dec’s future progress.
