Huge West Ham blow as Memphis Depay reportedly wants to join Manchester United in the January transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Sport (print edition January 7th, page 6) who claim that the 86-capped holland international is ready to rejoin Manchester United, having left them six years ago.

Now, that will obviously be a blow for the Hammers, with David Moyes allegedly keen to bring the 28-year-old forward to the London Stadium.

It will be such a shame if the Hammers miss out to Manchester United on the striker, he really is an exceptional talent.

Moyes desperately needs to add a new forward to his ranks at the London Stadium. Depay would have been the perfect signing.

It seems as though that dream is well and truly dead in the water now though…

Memphis Depay wants to join Manchester United

The Barcelona star will almost certainly leave the Camp Now either in January or the summer.

And he seemingly could be set for a return to the Premier League.

Sport (print edition January 7th, page 6) claims that the 28-year-old is keen to rejoin his former club Manchester United this month.

He is a different player now to the one who left Man United in January 2017 – a more well-rounded, mature version of the huge talent that burst onto the scene all those years ago.

Depay bagged 13 goals and two assists in 38 games for Barca last season (Transfermarkt).

The Dutch ace is an enigmatic, precocious talent and on his day he is unplayable. Depay is incredibly strong as well and would be ideally suited to leading the line on his own for the Hammers.

Unfortunately for West Ham, it appears as though Depay wants to join Manchester United in January. And if the Dutchman does move back to Old Trafford, it will undoubtedly end up being their gain and our loss.
