West Ham United target Thomas Strakosha has admitted that his dream is to join Premier League giants Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The Lazio stopper was speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s Here We Go podcast when he discussed his desire to move to Chelsea this summer.
Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to sign Strakosha according to the likes of Il Messaggero and La Laziali. He would have been a good option to have for West Ham as the owners continue their struggles to agree terms with Alphonse Areola.
It appears as though Chelsea could be a real problem for us, however.
Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring the 27-year-old Lazio goalkeeper to Stamford Bridge this summer:
Strakosha’s availability on a free transfer this summer would have undoubtedly appealed to the West Ham owners.
The club should be focusing all of their energy on signing Areola but it would be no surprise whatsoever if we missed out on him. And the 19-capped Albania international would have been a very good backup option…
Chelsea summer transfer window move for Strakosha seems to be on
With Tuchel keen to bring the Albanian ace to Stamford Bridge, it’s surely only matter of time before he does in fact move to west London from Lazio.
Strakosha spoke to Fabrizio Romano’s Here We Go podcast and didn’t pull any punches when asked where he will be plying his trade next season:
“I’m really honoured to be linked with a top club like Chelsea, it’s a dream. I’ve been dreaming of the Premier League since I was a kid.”
So there you have it.
If Chelsea do make a move for Strakosha, they will almost certainly sign him this summer.
It won’t matter to West Ham, IF we get a deal to sign Areola wrapped up sooner rather than later. The problem is that we are far from confident in our owners’ ability to actually sign the Frenchman on a permanent deal. Everything is so slow and painfully dragged out with them.
And if the Hammers don’t manage to sign the French World Cup winner, Chelsea winning the summer transfer window race for Thomas Strakosha will be a big blow for us.
former Lazio youth coach Alberto Bollini once labelled Strakosha as an extraordinary goalkeeper:
“I’m not an expert in goalkeepers but I’d give him 10/10. He has extraordinary athleticism. He is tenacious and has a cool head.”
The 27-year-old would have been a very solid option to fall back on for West Ham.
