West Ham have officially missed out on Martin Terrier with the Rennes forward set to stay with the Ligue 1 outfit this season.

Hammers boss David Moyes is thought to be very keen on signing the Rennes forward this summer (But! Football Club).

That’s in spite of already having brought Gianluca Scamacca to the London Stadium.

West Ham seem to be completely bereft of ideas in attack at the moment and the injection of more quality and pace is much needed.

Terrier would have been the perfect signing for the Hammers. It seems as though Moyes will have to look elsewhere though…

Martin Terrier won’t be joining West Ham this summer

Terrier admitted that he will remain with Rennes this season, as quoted by Inside Futbol:

“I will be at Rennes this season. That is for sure and it is certain.”

The French forward was thought to be available for around £34 million this summer (But! Football Club).

Terrier bagged 21 goals and four assists in 37 Ligue 1 games for Rennes last season (Transfermarkt).

Much like his name suggests, the Frenchman is a hard-working, tenacious forward. He has bags of pace, is a good finisher and is very strong in the air.

Terrier is also very good when playing with his back to goal, holding up the ball and bringing his teammates into the game.

The Rennes ace can play anywhere along the front-line and that makes his £34 million price-tag seem like really good value.

The Frenchman has been described as ‘rapid’ by Total Football Analysis. He has also been labelled as ‘brilliant’ by Ligue 1’s official Twitter account.

Martin Terrier would have been an exceptional addition for West Ham this summer. It seems as though that ship has sailed though.

And it will be interesting to see whether Moyes goes back in for him next year.
