‘He’s in the building’ David Moyes gives a Maxwell Cornet update and makes an exciting further West Ham transfer claim.

West Ham have been looking to seriously beef up their left-hand side, especially after Moyes sanctioned the departure of Arthur Masuaku this week.

Reports abound on Thursday that Cornet had travelled to London for his medical as West Ham tried to get the deal done and dusted.

Now Moyes has delivered what is a rare insight into his dealings in his first West Ham press conference of the new season.

The Hammers boss confirmed the Cornet deal is close to being completed and he reiterated West Ham are far from done when it comes to transfers in the summer window.

“He’s in the building now, so hopefully we can get that one done…” Moyes told the press when asked about the arrival of Cornet (whufc.com).

“We’ve made good signings. We’ve had one or two injuries as well, which we have to take into consideration, but we’re far from finished in that regard.

“We lost three outfield players and a goalkeeper this summer. We didn’t bring any players in during January so we need to fill these voids.

“We want to being in quality players and we’re working to do that.”

It comes after Moyes insisted in an interview with The Evening Standard that West Ham will be active in the window right up until the September 1st deadline.

Moyes also explained why West Ham simply cannot compete with the top clubs – yet – to get deals done early in the transfer window.

The Hammers boss is believed to be targeting a left-back, central midfielder, another attacking player and a left-sided centre-back in light of the injury to £30m summer signing Nayef Aguerd.
