Harvey Barnes is surely on his way to West Ham as Newcastle United launch a sensational move for a player hailed the new Diego Maradona.
While it was being widely claimed West Ham had missed out to Newcastle United for Harvey Barnes, we reported on Monday that simply was not the case.
Last month journalist Matt Law had claimed West Ham were leading the race for Barnes, but warned Newcastle were also circling.
Both The Telegraph and talkSPORT also claimed West Ham were closing in on the exciting capture of Barnes.
That changed last week with the likes of The Telegraph reported the Magpies had all but sealed a deal for the 25-year-old.
Then Sky Sports’ north east reporter Keith Downie set the record straight on the situation and made it clear that Newcastle had not even submitted a bid for Barnes.

While the Hammers were awaiting the Declan Rice money before submitting their own bids for players, Newcastle appeared to move on to brand new targets.
We reported on Hammers News at the weekend that there was a glimmer of hope for David Moyes with Eddie Howe allegedly making Moussa Diaby his prime target over Barnes.
The mega rich Magpies were then linked with Juventus and Italy winger Federico Chiesa.
That came amid reports Barnes has made it clear he wants to move to London.
All the while West Ham’s prime target Barnes remains available during a period where Newcastle – had they wanted him – had clear run at the attacker.

Well Barnes is surely on his way to West Ham as Newcastle launch a sensational move for the new Diego Maradona.
According to reports in Saudi Arabia and Italy, Newcastle have submitted a monster £81m bid for Napoli’s amazing left winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The Georgian wing wizard has been likened to the legendary Maradona by Napoli fans and observers. And he has even been given the nickname Kvaradona.
Now according to the likes of TMW and Football Italia, Newcastle have made an initial £81m bid for the ridiculously talented star West Ham turned down the chance of signing for just £13m before he joined Napoli.
If accurate then Newcastle have clearly moved on from trying to sign Barnes.
And that can only be good news for West Ham, particularly with the first tranche of the Rice money arriving this weekend.
