Newcastle want to sign Chelsea striker Timo Werner this summer and that could end up being both good and bad news for West Ham.

According to Bild journalist Christian Falk, Newcastle want to bring Werner to St James’ Park from Chelsea before the transfer window slams shut.

And that could have a knock-on effect for the Hammers’ regarding our hopes of signing Armando Broja from Chelsea.

David Moyes finally signed a striker yesterday with Gianluca Scamacca arriving from Sassuolo for around £35 million.

The Athletic claim that that doesn’t mean that West Ham have given up on signing Chelsea ace Broja in addition to the Italian though.

Newcastle have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 20-year-old Chelsea striker as well (Sky Sports).

And we have just received some good and bad news regarding our chances of signing the Albania International this summer…

Newcastle signing Timo Werner could be bittersweet for West Ham

Bild journalist Christian Falk claims that the Toon want to prise the 26-year-old forward away from Chelsea this summer.

And if that happens, it will have ramifications for West Ham.

Described as ‘unreal’ by Football Tweet, Werner would be a very good signing for Newcastle.

If the German does move to St James’ Park, however, it would surely mean that the Magpies won’t try to sign Armando Broja as well.

So that’s obviously good news for West Ham.

However, the problem is that Chelsea will be less likely to sell Broja if they allow Werner to join Newcastle.

So it is a real transfer triangle that leaves West Ham in somewhat of a catch-22 situation.

Newcastle could well be out of the running for Broja this summer but Thomas Tuchel will surely not sanction the sales of two attackers – at least not until he has signed at least one top-class striker.

The main thing is that David Moyes has finally got a striker signing over the line.

If the Scot wants Broja as well though, Newcastle signing Timo Werner from Chelsea will both help and hinder his plans.
