Gianluca Scamacca has spoken on his West Ham future again during a weekend return to Italy and it sounds like he wants out.
Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca continues to be heavily linked with a West Ham exit in the summer transfer window.
And is it any wonder why after yet another interview in which he does little to suggest he wants – or intends – to stay.
The Hammers spent £35m to bring the 6ft 5in star to east London from Sassuolo last summer.
But the move has not worked out as he nor West Ham would have hoped. A combination of illness, injury and fitness issues meant he played just 16 times in the Premier League, scoring three goals.
The 24-year-old did play a key role in West Ham’s Europa Conference League triumph, though, scoring some important goals in tight games as he notched five in nine appearances. But for the most part neither he nor David Moyes could make it work.

Hammers forward linked with a third of the clubs in Serie A
The forward has been linked with no less than six Serie A sides this summer.
He was absent from West Ham’s squad for the 2-2 friendly draw with Dagenham and Redbridge at the weekend.
And that sparked claims he had been given permission to return to his homeland ahead of a Hammers exit.
The likes of Il Tempo – via TMW – and Roma Press reported over the weekend that Scamacca was ‘in Italy as Roma re-open talks’ for West Ham’s £35m man.
Some reports have since claimed he could be sold for just £16m and others that he could be loaned out for a mere £2.6m fee.

The forward was back in training with West Ham on Monday and had been given permission to fly back to Italy for personal reasons – as reported on Hammers News.
But while there it seems the forward has issued another come and get me plea following on from his declaration that he would love to play for boyhood club Roma and Jose Mourinho.
Scamacca speaks on his West Ham future again during weekend return to Italy and it sounds like he wants out.
The striker was speaking in riddles somewhat and did point out that transfer speculation has surrounded him for the last two years.
But he once again intimated he wants to move to Roma – the club most heavily linked with him of late.

‘Whoever signs me will be getting a bargain’
“For the last two years my Instagram account continues to be filled with transfer gossip posts that I am tagged in,” Scamacca told Cronache di Spogliatoio in an exclusive interview which will be released in full soon.
“Many consider me to be an unexpressed talent. I know that I have quality we haven’t seen yet, but I am also 100 per cent sure that whoever signs me will be getting a bargain.
“I just think I need to be in the right place at the right time. I don’t know what that will be exactly, we can only discover that by living life…
“I am very hard on myself, I expect a great deal. That has been the case ever since I was playing in the streets in my neighbourhood of Rome. I was born and raised in those streets.”
Whether the full interview – or letter as it is being presented – gives a different take remains to be seen.
