According to a report from Foot Mercato, West Ham could sell Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City in the summer transfer window for €90 million (£77 million).

When Manchester City and Pep Guardiola come knocking, it must be incredibly hard to turn them down.

It seems as though Hammers boss David Moyes will not let him leave without making a huge profit though…

The Hammers signed Paqueta from Lyon last summer for £51 million (The Times).

And now we’re prepared to sell him for a minimum of £77 million according to a report from Foot Mercato.

The thing is, we criticise the owners for being terrible at selling players but then moan when talk of one of our players leaving for a massive profit emerges.

Listen, I really don’t want to lose Paqueta. He was superb for us during the final few months of last season, and the way that he keeps hold of the ball is hugely important for us.

However, we are are a selling club at the end of the day. If David Sullivan has the chance to make a £26 million profit on a player who he signed only 12 months ago, he’s going to take it, let’s be honest here.

If West Ham do sell Lucas Paqueta, the key will be to get a top-class replacement in through the door before the end of the window.

And that is the thing that worries me the most. Let’s just hope that Sullivan has something special up his sleeve if the Brazilian leaves to join Manchester City this summer.
