Frank Lampard is aware of reports linking Premier League strugglers West Ham United with a January move for Bobby Thomas, but the Coventry City boss is determined to retain his star centre-back.
This week alone, former England international Eric Dier has been mentioned as a potential Hammers target, alongside Newcastle veteran Jamaal Lascelles, Celta Vigo’s Oscar Mingueza, RB Leipzig’s El Chadaille Bitshiabu and Jhon Lucimi of Bologna.
Add the likes of Ethan Pinnock, Roggerio Nyakossi, Bright Arrey-Mbi, Charlie Cresswell and now Bobby Thomas to the collection, and the number of centre-halves reportedly on West Ham United’s wishlist cruises into the double figures.
Lascelles’ signing would be a waste of money and guarantee relegation for West Ham…

Nuno Espirito Santo is demanding more signings. And having conceded a league-high 43 goals so far this term, it is no secret that defensive reinforcements are a priority.
Frank Lampard rules out Coventry selling Bobby Thomas to West Ham United
The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that 6ft 4ins Coventry colossus Thomas has admirers at West Ham.
But with Coventry determined to join the Hammers in the Premier League next term, or take their place, one-time Upton Park favourite Frank Lampard has no plans for a January firesale.

“I saw [and] heard that yesterday,” Lampard told reporters on Friday about those Thomas to West Ham links. “And I think everyone knows how I feel about Bobby Thomas.
He’s a player for this club and we’ve got 20 games to try and do something this year. So that’s the answer.”
Lampard was equally dismissive back in November when he dismissed claims that striking duo Ellis Simms and Haji Wright could leave for East London.
Despite two defeats in their last three matches, Coventry are still six points clear at the summit. They host Leicester City in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.
