Former West Ham United loan hero Jesse Lingard has had a strange few years since shining in east London.

Indeed, Lingard proved to be a revelation under David Moyes at West Ham United during a brief loan spell in 2021.

After he was frozen out of the picture at Manchester United, Lingard joined the Hammers on loan in January of that year and scored nine goals while registering five assists in only 16 appearances.

If someone told you they wanted to sign Raheem Sterling on a free, what would you say back? 🤔

The two appeared to be right for each other, but Lingard rejected a permanent move to West Ham in favour of joining Nottingham Forest during the summer of 2022.

That didn’t pan out and the former England international would then join FC Seoul in South Korea.

Now, his career is set to move into another new country.

Jesse Lingard in advanced talks to join a club in Italy

According to The Daily Mail, Lingard is now in advanced talks with an unnamed Italian club.

Having left the South Korean club in December, the 33-year-old is now back on the market.

While it’s understood that Lingard has been talking to sides in the Premier League about the prospect of a free transfer, it seems as if a move into Italian football now beckons.

West Ham did all they could but Lucas Paqueta STILL wanted out! 😡

Hammers News revealed West Ham’s stance on re-signing Jesse Lingard

Back in December, Hammers News brought their readers and TalkingPoints subscribers an exclusive.

After speaking to a top spokesperson from within the club, the website confirmed that West Ham have no plans to re-sign Lingard despite him being offered to them by three different agents.

Things may well have played out differently for Lingard had he joined the Hammers back in 2022. He could surely have been part of the Conference League victory a year later.

What’s done is done, however, and it seems as if Lingard will now look to rebuild in Italy.
