What West Ham United would do for a striker like Frederic Kanoute right now.
Morrison backs Josh King for West Ham move
Well it might be former Hammer Kanoute that gets them one.
According to widespread reports, West Ham want to sign Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka as Sebastien Haller’s replacement.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
West Ham linked with move for RB Salzburg striker Daka
West Ham only have injury-prone Michail Antonio as a striker now.
And the likes of The Mirror claim he wants to spend the money raised from Haller’s sale on pacy forward Daka.
The Mirror actually claims West Ham are ‘being offered the chance’ to sign the 22-year-old Zambian striker for around £25m.
And ex West Ham star Kanoute – who scored 33 goals in 92 games for the club over three seasons – could hold the key to the move.
That’s because Kanoute heads up the agency that represents Daka.
Former Hammer Kanoute could hold the key
Daka is a client of 12 Management, who were founded by the former Hammer.
Kanoute’s agency firm represents a host of Red Bull Salzburg talents.
And The Express claims the Kanoute connection ‘increases hopes Daka could join Moyes’s side’.
Daka has scored 10 goals in 14 games for Salzburg this season, including two in the Champions League.
West Ham have a winnable run of fixtures throughout January and February.
A good return would catapult West Ham right into the European mix.
Moyes must sign a striker as options hang by Antonio’s hamstring
But Moyes must find a striker who can hit the ground running with Antonio’s fitness so fragile.
Since selling Haller, Daka is just one of a host of strikers linked with a move to West Ham.
Whether half the names mentioned are genuine Moyes targets or agents smelling the Haller money trail remains to be seen.
Some of the other names supposedly in the picture are longstanding target Josh King, Ismaila Sarr, Boulaye Dia and Eddie Nketiah – to name but a few.
There have even been suggestions Moyes could look to hold on to the money and try for a loan deal so as not to rush the decision on a new striker.
