The first West Ham transfer deal of the January window could be sealed within weeks at a knockdown fee.
West Ham’s Premier League season is not quite panning out how most expected after the success of recent campaigns and the club’s unprecedented £170m spend in the summer.
David Moyes made eight signings but in truth it is clear he needed more.
West Ham are paying the price for not properly addressing the fullback situation on both sides by signing young, modern, pacy players on the left and the right who can get forward and help contribute with assists and goals.

The jury is massively out on 28-year-old Emerson, who has failed to oust Aaron Cresswell from the team.
West Ham also clearly need more firepower and guile. Most clubs pushing for Europe have three strikers and a host of creative talent.
But without new boys Lucas Paqueta or Gianluca Scamacca – as they have been for a number of weeks already this season – West Ham would be well short.
So it is expected West Ham will be active in the winter window if the right players are available.
West Ham’s owners have previously pledged to give Moyes any money generated through player sales for signings.
And it seems that kitty will be boosted to the tune of around £13m very soon.
Because the first West Ham transfer of the January window could be sealed within weeks at a knockdown fee.

A key source in Italy claims that Torino’s president has agreed to pay the full asking price for Nikola Vlasic.
Previous reports claims the Italians wanted Vlasic for even less than the €15m (£12.9m) purchase clause that was inserted into his loan deal by West Ham.
But Calciomercato states that ‘considering Vlasic’s level of performance in this first part of the season’, the club’s owner and president, Urbano Cairo, ‘is now thinking about exercising the right of redemption clause’.
And they claim the deal could be done soon ahead of the January window rather than wait until next summer.
Vlasic has scored three Serie A goals for Torino so far during his loan from West Ham.
