Evan Ferguson has signed for West Ham United.

West Ham made a move to sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton a few days ago, and a deal has been close to completion over the past 24 hours or so.

Ferguson, 20, is all set to join the Hammers on a straight loan deal until the end of the season.

I don’t necessarily subscribe to the notion that if he does well for us he will simply return to Brighton in the summer or move on to join a bigger club.

In truth, if Ferguson rips it up with the Hammers, he will obviously have enjoyed his time at the London Stadium working under his former manager Graham Potter.

And I firmly believe he will then want to stay at West Ham.

Let’s hope that he goes on to enjoy a successful few months in East London.

The Republic of Ireland international is a top-class striker on his day.

Sure, he has struggled over the past 12 months or so, but his quality is undeniable.

If he’s fully fit and on top form, I expect him to score eight goals for us as a bare minimum over the course of the next 14 games or so.

And now a picture has emerged on X showing Ferguson for the first time wearing the Hammers kit:

The main problem West Ham will have if Ferguson is successful at the London Stadium, will be agreeing a fee with Brighton in the summer.

But let’s cross that bridge when we come to it.

In there here and now, Evan Ferguson will be a great signing for West Ham, I have no doubts about that.

The sooner we are able to get him fit, firing on all cylinders and involved in the starting XI, the better for the Hammers.
