Evan Ferguson finally seems set to complete his move to West Ham, but his Hammers switch includes a very annoying twist.

West Ham have been chasing Evan Ferguson all month long, with the Irishman thought to be the club’s number one target.

The January window is set to close tomorrow at 11pm, but Graham Potter could seal a deal for Ferguson before deadline day it seems.

The 20-year-old is a top talent, despite struggling for fitness and form over the past 12 months.

He proved during the 2022/23 season that he has what it takes to succeed at the very highest level, under the tutelage of Graham Potter nonetheless.

He has the profile we need to lead the line for us at West Ham.

And now it seems like a deal has been agreed with Brighton to bring Ferguson to East London from the south coast.

However, a really annoying twist has just come to light…

According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, West Ham have agreed a deal with Brighton to sign Evan Ferguson on a straight loan until end of season.

Ferguson expected to travel to London this afternoon to undertake his medical.

I’m sorry, but I really don’t like these so-called ‘dry loans’.

The former Manchester United star was exceptional for the Hammers during a loan spell with us, but he returned to Old Trafford in the summer because we failed to include a buy option in the deal.

If Ferguson does well for us, he will either return to Brighton or get a big move elsewhere.

I just don’t understand how we haven’t at least negotiated an option to buy clause into the deal.

Evan Ferguson is perfect for West Ham, I have no doubts about that.

However, the fact that the Hammers are only signing him on a straight loan from Brighton (medical pending of course) has left a sour taste in my mouth.

The thought of him firing on all cylinders for us only to leave in the summer is an incredibly annoying one to me.
