West Ham were reportedly very close to signing the Mexico international over the weekend.

And now the deal seems to be all but done…

Fabrizio Romano provides emphatic Edson Alvarez to West Ham update

The Mexican looks all set to join the Hammers in a £34-35 million deal from Ajax.

Romano took to his Twitter account this afternoon to share the news…

Alvarez will be a truly terrific addition for West Ham in my opinion.

He will be West Ham’s joint fourth most expensive signing of all-time alongside Gianluca Scamacca and behind Sebastien Haller, Lucas Paqueta and Felipe Anderson (Transfermarkt).

The 25-year-old is one of the best ball-winners about, and with his energy and stamina levels as well as his physicality, he’ll be ideally suited to Premier League football.

Fabrizio Romano’s update on Edson Alvarez is a hugely positive one for everyone involved with West Ham.
