West Ham United are set to miss out on a deal for Aston Villa’s Donyell Malen with the Premier League hitman on his way to Italy with AS Roma.
Six years after West Ham initially considered signing the ex-Arsenal prospect, it emerged this week that Nuno Espirito Santo was eyeing up a January swoop.
West Ham United have already spent £44 million on Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe. But after Sporting Lisbon snapped up Luis Guilherme, there is a space in Nuno’s squad for a versatile forward who can play both wide on the flanks and in a more central role.

West Ham United to miss out on Aston Villa’s Roma-bound attacker Donyell Malen
An approach for Donyell Malen had been floated, but Fabrizio Romano has now put an end to any hopes at the London Stadium.
Malen, scorer of seven goals in just 11 starts for Aston Villa this season, is now set to complete a move to AS Roma for up to £27 million.

“Donyell Malen to AS Roma, here we go!,” Romano wrote on Wednesday lunchtime. “Deal in place with Aston Villa and the player’s agents.
“Malen, authorised by Villa to fly to Roma today. £2m loan fee, £25m buy clause to become mandatory. Aston Villa accept all conditions of loan deal, managed by Roma director Ricky Massara.”

Which former transfer target do YOU wish the Hammers had signed?
Elsewhere in the Premier League, David Moyes has launched a bid to sign Youssef En-Nesyri to Everton from Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
