A move to the La Liga side would see him link up with the man who brought him to the London Stadium for £3.5 million three years ago (Evening Standard) – Manuel Pellegrini.
The Chilean is in charge of Betis and led them to an impressive sixth placed finish in La Liga next season.
The 29-year-old is all set to leave West Ham on a free transfer this summer.

He has been a decent servant for the Hammers but now is the right time for both parties to go their separate ways.
Fabian Balbuena set for Manuel Pellegrini reunion?
The 15-capped Paraguay international is a summer target for the Real Betis boss according to a report from AS.
Balbuena is not short of offers according to the West Ham centre-back’s agent Renato Bittar, as quoted via Versus.

Reuniting with his former manager Pellegrini certainly would make sense for the defender, however.
The 29-year-old earns around £40k-a-week at West Ham (Spotrac). So Betis should easily be able to match that kind of salary.
The Paraguayan will probably be a real hit in La Liga. The more pedestrian paced Spanish league should suit him down to the ground.

And we wish Balbuena all the best in whatever challenge he undertakes next. Good luck Fab. It’s been a pleasure having ‘The General’ in East London for three years!
