ExWHUemployee claimed that West Ham could make another move for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic in January, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast (Wednesday, November 4th).
In other news…Report: West Ham could sign ace with huge £55m release clause for bargain fee in January
The Hammers made a £23 million bid for the Fiorentina centre-back in September according to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio.
Corriere dello Sport claims that the Serie A outfit value the 23-year-old at closer to £30 million, however.
David Moyes brought Craig Dawson to the London Stadium on loan in the end.
The 30-year-old was hardly an inspirational addition. And unless he really impresses, he will probably head back to Watford at the end of the season.
Moyes will be desperate to sign a truly top class central defender either in January or next summer.
And ExWHUemployee told the West Ham way podcast on Wednesday that West Ham could go back in for Fiorentina ace Nikola Milenkovic in January:
“A centre-back who we looked at in the summer window was Nikola Milenkovic at Fiorentina. He’s refusing to sign a new contract at the moment. And it could be the case that we could go back in for him in January. This is not confirmed at the moment though.”
And Milenkovic would be an incredible addition for the Hammers.
Stats
The 22-year-old played 37 Serie A games for Fiorentina last season, scoring five goals in the process. During those outings, the 23-capped Serbia international averaged 1.2 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 3.3 clearances and 0.5 blocks per game. He also won an average of 2.3 aerial duals per match during that period of games (Who Scored).
Milenkovic is an absolutely superb centre-back. And he would improve West Ham’s defence immeasurably.
Whether the Hammers owners will be prepared to part with £30 million for his services in January, however, remains to be seen.
