Hammers boss David Moyes has only Michail Antonio to call upon in the centre-forward position at the moment.
If the 30-year-old suffers an injury, we could be in real trouble. Our chances of finishing inside the top six will certainly be dented without Michy.
Let’s just hope that doesn’t happen.
Whatever happens this season, West Ham need to address their centre-forward issues in the summer.
ExWHUemployee outlines potential West Ham summer hit list
David Moyes should have plenty of cash to splash in the summer. He SHOULD have. Let’s just hope that the board give him the necessary backing before the start of next season.
And ExWHUemployee listed five potential options for West Ham, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (Thursday, February 4th):
“Moyes has decided to carry the budget from this window over to the summer. He likes Edouard at Celtic, Sima of Slavia Prague and you’ve got Dia who we’ve been linked with. Then there are two other interesting ones, British players. One is Ivan Toney from Brentford, he’s scoring phenomenally for them. Originally our relationship with them was a little bit strained but we’ve signed Benrahma from them permanently now, that went smoothly. We’ve also given them Winston Reid for a very good deal, that means that relations have improved. Also, people may laugh, Danny Ings.”
Any of those five names mentioned by Ex would be very good options for West Ham.
West Ham potential target list full of exciting names
Ivan Toney is the most prolific out of the bunch and has scored 20 goals in 26 games for Brentford this season (Transfermarkt).
Abdallah Sima has 17 goals in 24 games for Slavia Prague to his name this term (Transfermarkt).
Odsonne Edouardhas 15 goals in 26 games for Celtic to his name (Transfermarkt).
Boulaye Dia has 12 goals in 23 games for Stade Reims this term (Transfermarkt).
Ings, meanwhile has seven goals in 18 appearances for Southampton to his name this season (Transfermarkt).
Moyes must make sure that he gets the striker signing spot on in the summer.
And the Hammers fans would surely take any of the names listed above. Let’s just hope that David Moyes gets it right.
Who knows. Perhaps the West Ham owners will show some real ambition in the summer and sign two strikers! If we’re being honest, the Hammers need more than just one new forward.
Only time will tell what the owners truly think about taking the Hammers forward, however.
