ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United are indeed interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson this summer but the club insider doubts that David Moyes will be able to afford him.

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, the Hammers have lodged an enquiry for the Man United stopper ahead of the summer transfer window.

Lukasz Fabianski, 35, is out of contract in the summer.

The Polish ace still has plenty of years left ahead of him but David Moyes will undoubtedly be eyeing a long-term replacement for the former Arsenal and Swansea City goalkeeper.

Dean Henderson would be an exceptional addition for West Ham. There is one big problem, however.

Manchester United want £40 million for the 23-year-old according to the Manchester Evening News.

ExWHUemployee can’t see West Ham paying £40 million for Dean Henderson

The Hammers priority this summer should be to sign at least one established striker. Perhaps after that, the addition of a central midfielder should be next on Moyes’s agenda.

ExWHUemployee suggested that the links with Henderson are indeed true, but his £40 million price-tag will be problematic to say the least, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast (Wednesday, February 24th):

“We have been linked with Henderson and we’ve liked him a lot before. So the link is true. But if they want £40 million for him I can’t see us paying that much for a goalkeeper.”

£40 million is clearly too much for West Ham to be splashing out on a goalkeeper in the current climate.

Henderson is an exceptional goalkeeper no doubt.

But this just seems like one that won’t be happening unless Manchester United are willing to considerably lower their valuation of the 23-year-old.
