The Hammers signed Soucek from Slavia Prague in the summer of 2020 for around £13.5 million (The Guardian).
The 25-year-old really impressed during an initial loan spell at the London Stadium.

Soucek has scored 11 goals in 41 games for the Hammers (Transfermarkt). He has eight Premier League goals to his name so far this season – more than any other midfielder in the top flight excluding penalties.
The Czech Republic international ace, who earns £60k-a-week (WT Foot), has totally transformed the way in which West Ham play.
The Hammers are flying high in fourth spot in the Premier League table at the moment. Meanwhile, Arsenal are really struggling and are languishing down in 11th position.
The Gunners are crying out for a player like Soucek. A real leader – someone who puts his body on the line week-in, week-out.
Chris Sutton suggests Arsenal fans would love to have Tomas Soucek
Maikel Arteta would surely love to have the Czech Republic international at the Emirates.
Chris Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club how Arsenal missed a trick by not signing the West Ham ace:

“Would Arsenal fans like Soucek in their midfield, right now? Of course they would. David Moyes and West Ham had a better eye than every other Premier League club – and the Arsenal’s scouts were sleeping, that’s a fact.”
Soucek has to go down as one of the best, if not the best signing of the season.
The 25-year-old midfielder is an absolute monster. And he has already established himself as a firm fan favourite at West Ham.
Let’s just think ourselves lucky that the Hammers signed Soucek rather than Arsenal.
