Hammers boss David Moyes brought the 28-year-old to the London Stadium from Manchester United last week on loan until the end of the season.

And Lingard has already shown why the Scot was so keen to nab him last month.

ExWHUemployee delivers detailed update on Jesse Lingard situation

It seems like West Ham have a real gem on their hands. It’s just a shame that we don’t have an option to buy Jesse.

Perhaps there is a chance we can sign him permanently, however.

Ex outlined where we currently stand with Jesse Lingard, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast (Thursday, February 4th):

“Just to give a little bit more information on Lingard. As I’ve said before, he doesn’t have a clause for us to buy him. Man United made sure that wasn’t put in. He wanted to come here for first-team football. His contract expires in the summer of next year. So if Lingard decides he wants to come to West Ham, he could push for that because they’re going to think they are going to lose him in a year so it’s best to sell him now. You could probably get him for £10-15 million and that really should be something we look to do. We’ve paid a £1.5 million loan deal as it is so you could use that against the future figure. Either way, he’s someone we need to pursue. We also have to pay about half a million if we get into Europe. So if we do get into Europe, the collective fee is about £2 million. I’m just hoping that we do get to keep him for next season and beyond.”

Manchester United have so many options in the final third. So if West Ham do make an offer in the region of £10-15 million for Lingard, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will surely be tempted to move him on.

Especially considering the fact that his contract expires in the summer of 2022.

Jesse Lingard has clearly maintained his fitness levels despite not having played for Manchester United in the Premier League this season.

His quality and class is undeniable. And if West Ham can sign him for around £10 million in the summer, it will be an absolute no-brainer for David Moyes.
