West Ham boss David Moyes and the club’s owners are big fans of Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud according to respected Hammers insider ExWHUemployee.

The east London club are desperate for a new centre-forward.

Sebastien Haller appears to be on his way to Ajax for around £20 million (The Guardian).

Meanwhile, Moyes’s number one choice Michail Antonio continues to experience problems with his hamstrings.

When Haller eventually leaves, West Ham will finally have some sort of a transfer budget at least.

And it seems as though Chelsea hitman Olivier Giroud could be a target for the Hammers.

West Ham were continually linked with a move to bring the 34-year-old to the London Stadium last month, most recently by Eurosport.

West Ham next step for Olivier Giroud?

And ExWHUemployee has now claimed that David Moyes, David Sullivan and David Gold are big fans of the French World Cup winner.

Whether Frank Lampard would be willing to let Giroud leave Stamford Bridge this month, however, remains to be seen.

The former Arsenal man is out of contract in the summer. So the Blues hierarchy may decide to cash in on the striker this month rather than lose him for nothing in six months time.

Olivier Giroud is a top class striker. The 34-year-old has bagged 219 goals in 534 career games (Transfermarkt).

There Frenchman is incredibly strong in the air. He is far more mobile than Haller ever was and he would have a lot to offer the Hammers.

The problem is, of course, Giroud’s age. At 34, he probably only has a couple of years left playing at the very highest level.

If West Ham can pick him up for a bargain fee this month, however, it seems like an absolutely no-brainer for David Moyes.
