BILD claimed last month that the 26-year-old midfielder had actually been offered to the Hammers for around £14 million.
And with David Moyes in need of more central midfield reinforcements at the London, Skhiri would be a brilliant option for the Scot.
Skhiri is an absolute animal in midfield. He’s a hard worker and does not stop running.

The 26-year-old covered more distance and made more tackles than any other player in Germany’s top flight last season according to the Bundesliga’s official website.
Ellyes Skhiri breaks silence amidst West Ham links
The door now appears wide open for the Hammers to swoop in for the Tunisia international.
Skhiri spoke to BILD and admitted that he is ready to leave Cologne:

“I think the situation is clear for the club and me. I’m here, and I’m doing my best, but if there’s a good opportunity to take the next step, I’m open to it. Playing in a European competition would, of course, be a new step for me to move on.”
That sounds like a come and get me plea if there ever was one.
Skhiri is an outstanding midfielder. He would strengthen the Hammers’ central midfield department considerably.
