Longstanding Hammers target Duje Caleta-Car drives a clear path for West Ham to finally complete their move for Nayef Aguerd.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Marseille centre-back Caleta-Car under Moyes.
Indeed West Ham were reportedly in for the Croatian defender again in January but in the end Caleta-Car stayed at Marseille.

Ahead of the summer window opening next week, West Ham have been heavily linked with another centre-back from a Ligue 1 club – Morocco star Aguerd of Rennes.
The Evening Standard and The Daily Mail suggested on Monday that Aguerd’s move to West Ham is imminent.
According to West Ham insiders speaking to Claret and Hugh, the Hammers faced competition from Sevilla to sign the 26-year-old left-footed centre-back.
After selling Diego Carlos to Aston Villa – and with speculation Jules Kounde will join Chelsea – the threat from Sevilla could be very real.
But now it seems Moyes’s hopes of landing Aguerd could actually be boosted by his decision not to sign Caleta-Car previously.
In fact Caleta-Car drives a clear path for West Ham to finally complete a move for Aguerd.
That’s according to new reports from Spain claiming Sevilla have switched attentions from Aguerd to Caleta-Car in their search for a new centre-back.
Mundo Deportivo and Football Espana report that the side West Ham knocked out of the Europa League could now move for Caleta-Car in their defensive reshuffle.
Sevilla’s previous centre-back partnership of Carlos and Kounde was one of the best in European football and both players were signed from France in the same summer, 2019.
Sevilla shipped just 30 goals in 2021/22, less than any other defence in La Liga.
With Sevilla switching targets to Caleta-Car, West Ham surely now have a clear path to get the deal done and dusted for Aguerd.
And what a player West Ham will be getting if they do.
Aguerd’s talent is obvious for anyone that has seen him play or takes a look at his YouTube highlights reel.
His stats are seriously impressive too.
According to Opta data, Aguerd has made the most forward passes of any outfield player in the top five European leagues since the start of the 2020-21 season!
And another astonishing stat about Aguerd’s defending was revealed this week.
Let’s hope an old West Ham target can help us land a new one as Caleta-Car drives Sevilla out of the race for Aguerd.
