Everton want to sign Maxwel Cornet permanently while West Ham would prefer a loan deal for the 25-year-old Burnley ace.
That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth who claims that both West Ham and Everton have held talks with Burnley about signing the Ivory Coast international this summer.
We strongly believe that the Hammers owners should just pay what is needed to sign Cornet permanently. If Everton are prepared to do that then we certainly should be as well.
However, judging by the latest updates, it seems as though the Toffees hold the upper hand on the Hammers…
Everton leading West Ham in Maxwel Cornet race
Whilst it hasn’t been actually been made clear which club is in pole position to sign the Ivorian, it seems as though the Merseyside side’s willingness to sign him permanently may give them the advantage over the East London outfit.
Dharmesh Sheth took to Twitter this afternoon to provide an update on the situation:
Come on…just put in a permanent offer for him West Ham! He’d be well worth the money.
Cornet joined Burnley from Lyon in the summer of 2021 for around £13 million (BBC).
He has been a huge hit at Turf Moor, bagging nine goals and two assists in 29 games for the Clarets (Transfermarkt).
We believe that the Burnley speed demon would be a sensational signing for West Ham or Everton.
Cornet was recent hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by compatriot Kolo Toure (Sky Sports).
He’s one of the quickest forwards in the Premier League and can operate on either wing or at left-back.
Cornet can even play as a striker if need be!
The 29-capped Ivory Coast international is aggressive, direct and loves running at opposing defenders.
We would absolutely love to see him at the London Stadium.
It seems as though as things stand, Everton could be leading West Ham in the race for the signing of Maxwel Cornet this summer though.
