Most Hammers fans may think that missing out on the Manchester United man to the Gers would be a blessing in disguise.
But there is no reason why Lingard couldn’t succeed under David Moyes at the London Stadium. He would undoubtedly flourish under Rangers boss Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.
The 27-year-old has really struggled at Old Trafford over the past 12 months or so. In fairness to Lingard, however, he has only been given nine Premier League starts since the beginning of last season.

Lingard has proven over the past six or seven years that he has what it takes to make a difference at the very highest level.
The 24-capped England international has incredible energy levels and would fit right in at West Ham…as long as he is focused and prepared to work hard.
Proven quality
Lingard’s best season in a Man United shirt came in the 2017/18 campaign when he racked up eight goals and six assists in 33 Premier League games (Transfermarkt).
His fall from grace over the past year or so has been a rather drastic one. His talent hasn’t gone anywhere, however.

And a fresh start amongst new surroundings may well be just what he needs in order to reinvigorate his flagging career.
The Manchester United ace could be available for a bargain fee in January. His contract is set to expire in the summer, although the Red Devils do have an option to extend that deal by a further 12 months.
The Mirror reckon that the United play-maker could cost around £20 million, however. That is quite simply too much money for Lingard. Perhaps around £10 million would be a fairer price.
And for that kind of fee, Lingard would be a very strong addition for Rangers. Let’s not get it twisted though. He wouldn’t be a bad signing for West Ham either.
Delusions of grandeur could be to blame here. We have to be realistic as to where we are at under the current ownership. And it’s a shame that some of our fans would turn their nose up at someone like Jesse Lingard.
