David Ornstein has suggested that he still thinks West Ham target Jesse Lingard will leave Manchester United before the January transfer window closes.
Hammers boss David Moyes is clearly desperate to bring Lingard, 29, back to the London Stadium from Manchester United this month.
In fact, ESPN reckon that the attacking midfielder is hoping to move to the Hammers on a permanent deal this month.
Lingard enjoyed a wonderful four-month loan spell at the London Stadium last season, bagging nine goals and four assists in just 16 Premier League games for West Ham. He returned to Old Trafford in the summer though, hoping to force his way back into the Manchester United side.
That obviously hasn’t happened and now it seems as though Jesse is desperate to leave his boyhood club before the January window closes.
David Ornstein predicts West Ham target Jesse Lingard will leave Man United this month
With just three-and-a-half days remaining before the January transfer window slams shut, the 29-year-old’s future still remains very much up in the air.
David Ornstein suggested that Lingard could well leave Old Trafford before the end of the month, when speaking to Sky Sports this morning (January 28th, 8:40 am):
“I think Jesse Lingard is still going to leave Manchester United this month. I still think something might happen with Newcastle before the deadline. But that is a guess!”
Now, the mention of Newcastle is obviously a concern.
The Magpies have immense wealth now and could blow West Ham out the water in the race to sign Jesse.
The 29-year-old did love his time at the London Stadium though. He is a tailor made fit for David Moyes’s system at West Ham.
The Man United ace would be a great signing for the Hammers and would lift everyone involved with the club.
And if David Ornstein is right, and Lingard does leave Manchester United this month, then West Ham surely have a good chance of being the team that acquires his signature.
