The Hammers sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax two weeks ago for around £20 million.
David Moyes has since been looking to bring an established centre-forward to the London Stadium.
As things stand, however, West Ham appear to be nowhere near actually signing anyone.

Going the rest of the season relying on Michail Antonio would be a kamikaze move. It would also put unnecessary pressure on the 30-year-old.
David Ornstein West Ham transfer update
Fear not though Hammers fans. David Ornstein has spoken.
The football journalist most known for his accurate inside Arsenal info suggested last night that West Ham fully expect to bring in a new centre-forward before the transfer window slams shut:
David Moyes has already been linked with a plethora of strikers so far this month.
Some of the names linked with a move to West Ham include Boulaye Dia (90 Min), Olivier Giroud (Eurosport), Ismaila Sarr (the Sun) and Youssef En-Nesyri (The Athletic).
David Sullivan’s scattergun is firing away like a gooden. We just have to hope that there is some kind of method behind the West Ham co-owner’s madness.

Whatever happens, Moyes needs to bring in a top class striker. The owners need to back the Scot to the hilt.
Look where we are in the Premier League table! A top six finish is well within our reach. Let’s hope and pray that all of Moyes’s good work isn’t rendered null and void by Sullivan not adequately backing him in the transfer market this month.
According to David ‘The Oracle’ Ornstein, however, that isn’t something the Hammers fans should be worried about.
