There was mixed news for West Ham United as David Moyes’s reported prime striker target was transfer listed yesterday.

The likes of The Daily Star and West Ham insider ExWHUemployee have claimed Tammy Abraham is one of Moyes’s prime striker targets this summer.

So there was good news for West Ham when The Telegraph reported yesterday that the 23-year-old Chelsea outcast has been put up for sale.

That in itself is perhaps no great surprise given Abraham’s lack of game time – and even squad inclusion – under Thomas Tuchel.

But it wasn’t all good news for West Ham.

Because according to The Telegraph Chelsea have reportedly slapped a £40m price tag on the striker.

If The Telegraph report is accurate, it will likely rule West Ham out of the running.

Moyes wants to sign at least one striker and will be prioritising landing Jesse Lingard on a permanent deal too.

The Scot will also need central midfield cover and may look to sign a new defender with Fabian Balbuena set to leave and the jury still out on Issa Diop.

In another blow to West Ham, The Telegraph claims Abraham is not interested in going out on loan and wants a permanent move if he is to leave Chelsea.

“Chelsea will listen to offers in the region of £40million for Tammy Abraham this summer as part of a striker reshuffle at the club,” The Telegraph reports.

“Any attempt by Chelsea to set up a loan deal for Abraham is not expected to be particularly attractive to the player, who wants to settle at a club where he will be given first-team chances.

“Abraham has always made it clear that his dream is to succeed for Chelsea, but the current situation is not thought to be sustainable for either the player or the club.

“Champions League hopefuls Leicester City and West Ham United are both thought to be tracking Abraham’s situation, but with a host of striker moves expected in the Premier League and around Europe, a number of possibilities could arise.”
