And Tottenham most certainly are after the club’s defensive issues this season.

Fabian Balbuena looks set to leave West Ham at the end of the season, Angelo Ogbonna turns 33 next month and the jury is still out on Issa Diop.

Tottenham have problems to resolve at the back. Eric Dier has endured a mixed season, Davinson Sanchez is wildly inconsistent, Toby Alderweireld is now 32 and Joe Rodon is still a relative rookie in the Premier League.

The Denmark international has averaged 0.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 5.1 clearances per game. He has also won an average of 3.2 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).

West Ham fans were delighted at the prospect of bringing the 24-year-old to the London Stadium.

But Tottenham are looking to snatch him away from West Ham’s clutches.

That’s if a new report from BT in Denmark is accurate.

According to BT Denmark Spurs have tried to steal a march on the likes of West Ham by scheduling talks with Andersen’s representatives to discuss a deal.

It’s not the first time Tottenham have jumped on a West Ham transfer.

Jose Mourinho snatched Gedson Fernandes from West Ham at the 11th hour to make the Portuguese his first Tottenham signing.

That did not work out for Spurs and West Ham dodged a bullet going on to sign the brilliant Tomas Soucek instead.

Tottenham seemingly have a head start on West Ham for Andersen according to BT Denmark.

But if the Hammers can maintain their position above Spurs come the end of the season that could well sway the chances of landing Andersen in Moyes’s favour.
