David Moyes speaks on meeting with David Sullivan and West Ham links to £30m star Harry Maguire but he’s not giving much away.

While most of us have been asleep overnight, West Ham boss David Moyes has been facing the press in Australia.

And given developments with Harry Maguire at Man United on Sunday and reports that West Ham ‘lead the chase’ for the Red Devils outcast, it is no surprise that was one of the first questions the Scot was asked.

West Ham have not made a single signing in the summer transfer window so far with the season now less than a month away.

The Hammers are one of just three Premier League clubs yet to do so.

Co-owner David Sullivan has appointed German Tim Steidten as West Ham’s new technical director with overarching responsibility for recruitment and transfers.

So the manager was also questioned on whether he had met with Sullivan at the end of last season to plan ahead.

‘It was nothing special’ says tight-lipped Moyes

“Well, I couldn’t tell you anything (about West Ham interest in Maguire) because I think I talking about players from other clubs who are under contracts, that’s not the right thing to do, so I’d never do that,” Moyes said in the presser.

“I’ve got no idea what their reasons are at Manchester United, for what they’ve done so I couldn’t talk about them… I’m sorry…

“I’m used to having lots of talks with the owner. It (the end of season meeting) was nothing special. It was usual to speak with him at the end of the season.”

West Ham were heavily linked with bids for a host of players on Sunday.

And reports broke last night that Moyes has launched a £40m raid on Fulham for Joao Palhinha as Declan Rice’s replacement.
