The Hammers boss was speaking to reporters this afternoon ahead of his side’s trip to Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

West Ham have to be one of the weakest squads in the Premier League as far as strength in depth is concerned.

Moyes needs to sign at least one striker, a centre-back, a central midfielder and a play-making number 10.

This transfer window has been an incredibly frustrating one so far.

David Moyes provides West Ham transfer window update

The Hammers boss spoke to reporters this afternoon and insisted that the club are doing all they can to bring some players through the door at the London Stadium, as quoted by Football.London:

“We are trying to add to the squad if we can and we have had and have some offers in for people but not everything is coming to fruition but we are doing our best to add to the squad before the close of the window. It has been a difficult window firstly because I think the market, in general, has been very quiet. I think there has been a lot of money spent at different clubs at the top end but overall I think it has been quite a quiet market. I think we need to add to it but I don’t think West Ham supporters are frustrated I think they realise how good the team has been and they are coming back for the first time to see a lot of new players who they have not seen for 18 months who have performed really well recently.”

Well at least we have some offers in for players!

Moyes has misjudged how the fans are feeling, however. The majority of the West Ham fans are incredibly frustrated, not with Moyes but with the board for failing to back the Scot adequately enough ahead of what will undoubtedly be a physically punishing campaign.

As we have said time and time again, whoever, there is still plenty of time to change all of that. If the Hammers owners manage to make two or three top class signings between now and the end of the month, we will all be happy.

Hopefully we manage to get some deals over the line soon, because if we don’t this season could be a real struggle considering how many games we have to play.
