West Ham boss David Moyes has suggested that he is looking to bring in players of similar quality to Declan Rice in order to convince the 22-year-old that his future lies at the London Stadium.

Rice has been in absolutely sensational form for the Hammers this season.

The England international has been a standout performer in the Premier League and there aren’t many better than him in world football in his specific position.

The 22-year-old’s fine performances have obviously not gone unnoticed. Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all want to prise him away from the London Stadium according to the Daily Mail.

Rice is still under contract with West Ham until the summer of 2024 though. The Hammers have the option of extending that deal by a further 12 months as well.

Matching Dec’s ambition will be a necessity if we are to keep him at the London Stadium and Moyes hinted that that’s exactly what the club are ready to do.

The 22-year-old is vital to everything that West Ham do.

Keeping him at the club will stand us in great stead as we look to continue our impressive recent progress.

Moyes told reporters yesterday that he is looking to bring in top-class players in order to convince Dec that his future lies in East London, as quoted by the Daily Mail:

“Overall he’s done a great job. Hopefully he keeps driving the team on and I hope we continue to add good players to play with and around Declan. My job is to keep building the club and build this level up and getting Declan players around him who are of a similar level and capable of playing at a really high level.”

That really is great to hear.

If Dec is to stay at West Ham, Moyes must bring in players of sufficient calibre to help us crack the top four.

It will be interesting to see who we sign this month. If we’re being honest, West Ham need to make at least two top-class new signings if we are to challenge for the Champions League places this season.

Rice must see the progress being made at West Ham. It’s time for us to reach another level though.
