West Ham United transfer target Adnan Januzaj has been officially released by Real Sociedad and is now a free agent.
Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to bring the 27-year-old to the London Stadium this summer according to Calciomercato.
Moyes gave Januzaj his Manchester United debut way back in 2013 whilst he was in charge at Old Trafford.
The West Ham manager then brought the 15-capped Belgium international to Sunderland on a season-long loan in 2016 during his stint in charge of the Black Cats.
So the Scot is clearly a very big fan of the 27-year-old winger. And it seems as though he might be able to snap him up for absolutely nothing this summer…
Adnan Januzaj released
The 27-year-old is now a free agent after he was released by Real Sociedad, as confirmed here by the La Liga club.
And his availability as a free agent means that the Hammers swooping in to sign him would be no surprise whatsoever.
Especially with Andriy Yarmolenko having been released.
Januzaj has been described as a brilliant player by Manchester United legend Paul Scholes (talkSPORT).
And on his day, he is extremely exciting to watch. The problem is that he is not very consistent. And his stats this season make for pretty grim reading, with just five goals and three assists to his name in 44 games (Transfermarkt).
The 27-year-old has never hit the heights that were expected of him when he burst onto the scene as a teenager a decade ago.
The thing is though, Januzaj is still a very decent player when he’s at his best. He can play anywhere along the front-line and possesses exceptional technical ability.
The Belgian’s availability on a free transfer and his apparent wage demands of around £76k-a-week (Salary Sport) makes him the ideal replacement for Yarmolenko – and a much more cost effective one at that.
Adnan Januzaj having been released is a sure sign that he will end up at West Ham in my opinion. It will surely only be a matter of time…
