West Ham United boss David Moyes has been discussing his January transfer window plans having spoken to the club’s owners.

Insiders deliver transfer window update after Sullivan and Gold change of heart

Relations between West Ham fans and owners David Sullivan and David Gold are fractured for a number of reasons.

But one major bone of contention for supporters is a lack of proper investment to build a strong and competitive squad at West Ham.

West Ham fans unhappy with lack of proper squad investment under GSB

It was clear that West Ham have needed another striker, central – preferably defensive – midfielder and left-back for some time now.

Moyes’s lack of striker options and a left-back who can operate comfortably in a back four are already costing his side in what has been a hugely promising start to the season.

West Ham have been linked with the likes of Bournemouth striker Josh King (Claret & Hugh) and Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo (Mundo Deportivo) in January.

But rumours have been circulating that the fading prospect of fans returning to the London Stadium anytime soon will result in a quiet January window for Moyes (Claret & Hugh).

Insiders claim cupboard is bare for January window and Moyes says owners will only help on one condition

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Brighton game on Sunday, Moyes revealed Sullivan and Gold have told him they will help him sign players, but only if the injury situation dictates.

“As far as January goes, we don’t have any big intentions of making signings, but the owners have said they would help if we need it,” Moyes told the press, as reported by whufc.com.

“Obviously that’ll be to do with injuries or anything else that crops up. If we need it, we’ll try and go and get it, but talking about January, it’s not always a great market.

“We’ll continue trying to build a squad, but more importantly a good team. It’s not always the case that you can get the players you want or the players are available.”

Hammers must sign a striker or kiss goodbye to promising season

The problem is West Ham do need it and have done for some time.

A striker has to be top of Moyes’s priority list with Michail Antonio injury prone and Sebastien Haller not rated by the Scot.

It could be argued West Ham will get away without bringing in another defensive midfielder and left-back until the summer.

But there are no two ways about it when it comes to the forward options, West Ham are well short.
