It appears West Ham United owners David Sullivan and David Gold are getting their excuses in early ahead of the January transfer window.
‘I’ll need to assess’ Moyes hints Antonio could return to squad for Chelsea
All the talk over the last two months has been about West Ham adding a striker in the winter window.
After failing to land Josh King in the summer window, insiders Claret & Hugh consistently claimed he remained David Moyes’s top priority.

From Kings to paupers
Claret & Hugh also claimed cashflow issues would not stop West Ham from signing the Norwegian in January as long as they could agree a payment structure with Bournemouth.
West Ham have made their best start to a season for five years.
Beat Chelsea on Monday night and this campaign will eclipse that one after 14 games.
Injuries have started to kick in, though, exposing Moyes’s squad in certain areas.
But just when West Ham have got themselves in an excellent position to kick on and possibly achieve something in what is a wide open season, it appears the owners are unlikely to step up and help Moyes by improving the squad further next month.

Insiders claim owners will plead poverty again in January due to Covid
That’s according to a new update from Claret & Hugh – who have direct links to Sullivan and Gold.
In an article titled Hammers misery goes on and on, Claret & Hugh claim West Ham are now unlikely to spend in January after London was essentially put into lockdown again.
“The latest news on a new strain and Tier 4 status in the capital makes it much more likely that supporters will not return to the London Stadium this season with losses for all Premier League clubs continuing to mount,” C&H state.
“The Hammers are unlikely to make any big investments in the January transfer window and other top-flight clubs without uber-rich sugar daddies are likely to follow suit this winter.”

Same claim different window
There were similar claims ahead of the summer window.
But Premier League spending hit record levels with clubs splashing out more than £1billion on signings.
West Ham’s owners need to back their manager this winter to make the most of their excellent start.
The Covid situation will not last forever and football will be booming once more in the not too distant future.
After watching other clubs spend huge amounts in the summer, Covid simply will not wash with fans as an excuse.
Particularly after the Premier League announced the renewal of the beIN Sports TV deal for £380million – the same amount as the previous package.
