Crysencio Summerville says ‘yes’ to Roma but West Ham need £12m more

West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville has reportedly ‘said yes’ to a move to Roma, though there is still little indication that the Serie A giants will trigger the £50 million release clause in his contract.

Hammers News have already revealed that Summerville’s release clause is higher than initially reported.

West Ham United understandably have little interest negotiating a fee below the £50 million threshold, and rightly so with Manchester United keen and after Aston Villa emerged as a realistic destination this week.

If you were Nils Koppen, who are YOU signing to replace Summerville?

Abdul Fatawu, Simon Adingra and Sorba Thomas have been linked…

So while Roma are reportedly close to reaching an agreement on personal terms, there is still a lot of work to do before the Giallorossi are shaking hands with the Hammers.

West Ham United ace Crysencio Summerville is keen on Roma switch

“Summerville has said yes, he’s open to the Giallorossi project and a financial agreement with the player is truly within reach,” Italian reporter Matteo Moretto says on his YouTube channel.

“This aspect was and is fundamental because, in any case, Summerville is a player sought after by other clubs as well. Premier League clubs were and are pursuing him as a target to strengthen their wings, but Roma are accelerating. They’re very close to reaching an agreement with the player, with the boy’s approval.

“And now the next step will be to submit an official offer to West Ham.”

Moretto adds that Roma plan to offer West Ham an overall package of £38 million. £34 million up front, with the rest of the fee to be made up in bonuses.

“In short, a high figure, and it remains to be seen whether West Ham will accept, because West Ham’s starting price was slightly higher. But the news, in fact, is Summerville’s is totally open to Roma.”

What would you say is West Ham’s biggest transfer REGRET? 😫

David Moyes snubbed Julian Alvarez for £14m…

Unfortunately for a Roma side looking forward to Champions League football for the first time in seven years, a £38 million offer falls well short of the fee in Summerville’s contract.

It is not as if the Hammers are under any immediate pressure to accept lowball bids either, having already banked £85 million from the departure of Mateus Fernandes.

Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky is boosting the coffers out of his own pocket, as well. This, coupled with existing interest from Man United and Aston Villa, means that the Summerville saga is unlikely to find a conclusion any time soon with Roma’s confidence seemingly rather misguided.
