Could Sebastien Haller have played one of his last games for West Ham after big hint and brutal verdict from David Moyes

Sebastien Haller could well have played his last game for West Ham United at Chelsea last night.

£10m man lifts the lid on his new role at West Ham

Despite West Ham’s chronic lack of striker options David Moyes – once again – publicly made clear he is not happy with the forward after the 3-0 defeat.

West Ham’s record £45million signing once again ploughed a lonely furrow up front.

Lugging his big frame pointlessly chasing down defenders and trying to run channels with no reward.

Moyes has made it perfectly clear he does not rate Haller

Haller worked hard in his own way. But he was wasting energy in a setup which simply does not suit his style of play and never will.

Moyes does not rate Haller. He has made that abundantly clear of late.

Moyes has told Haller to smile more, do more and score more.

And his actions spoke even louder than his words when he dropped Haller to take a huge risk on a half fit Michail Antonio against Aston Villa.

West Ham somehow won that game but the risk backfired as Antonio suffered a new injury which has kept him out ever since.

Manager’s brutal verdict and big hint could mean Haller has played one of his last games for West Ham

Last night did the relationship between Moyes and Haller no good either. After the game Moyes aimed a brutal dig at his only available forward.

The Scot also dropped a big hint he may ditch the striker for forthcoming matches and will try to bring someone in when the window opens.

“I hope I get Micky back soon,” Moyes told the press after the game (Evening Standard).

“If we don’t then we need to think what else we can do, how else we can do it. We need alternatives and options, we’re a little bit limited with that.

“If not then I’m going to have to start looking in my own group to find another Marko Arnautović or Micky Antonio. That’s what I’m going to have to try to do.

“We did a lot of good things but not enough good things in either box where it mattered.”

West Ham have Brighton on Sunday December 27th before a quick turnaround against Southampton two days later and then Everton on New Year’s Day.

Hammers won’t risk Haller fitness if they plan to offload him as Moyes continues to be linked with replacements

But with Antonio expected to return and Moyes revealing he will look to wide players in his squad – such as Andriy Yarmolenko and Jarrod Bown – take Haller’s place, the Ivorian could well have played one of his last games for West Ham.

If Moyes intends to ship the forward out it is unlikely he will be risked with the window opening in just over a week.

West Ham have been linked with the likes of Josh King (Claret & Hugh) and Moussa Dembele (The Sun).

The likes of Monaco and Lyon were linked with Haller in the summer (Le 10 Sport).

But any exit is likely to be on loan initially.

Whether David Sullivan and David Gold stump up any money for Moyes to bring in the striker he so clearly needs and wants is another matter entirely.
