Chelsea make final Axel Disasi call as impact of West Ham spell becomes clear

Axel Disasi’s impressive loan spell at West Ham United may have earned the Chelsea misfit another shot in the Premier League.

That is according to Chelsea reporter Nizaar Kinsella, who believes the five-time France international is still expected to leave Stamford Bridge despite rebuilding his reputation a few miles down the road.

The stats show that, if the Premier League season had started when Axel Disasi made his West Ham United debut in February’s 2-0 win at Burnley, the Hammers would be in contention for a European spot.

Goodbye Traore and Fabianski! 👋

Nuno Espirito Santo accumulated the eighth-most points in the league with Disasi in the building. Parent club Chelsea, in contrast, managed the same amount [12] as rock-bottom Wolves across the final 13 matchdays.

Relegation ruined West Ham’s chances of keeping Disasi on a permanent basis, of course. But Kinsella, writing for BBC Sport, reports that any hopes he may have had of a Chelsea revival under Xabi Alonso have also been scotched.

Chelsea will sell Axel Disasi despite impressive West Ham United spell

Kinsella claims that both Chelsea and Disasi have come to the conclusion that a summer sale is the best for all parties.

Disasi, who is attracting interest from two Premier League clubs and one in Italy, has three years left on his contract after joining from Monaco for £38.5m in 2023.

Interestingly, the report adds that not only was Disasi ‘open’ to signing a permanent deal with West Ham until their fate was sealed, he is now attracting interest from two as-yet unnamed Premier League clubs as well as one from Serie A.

It is no secret that AC Milan are long-time admirers of the ex-Monaco man.

But after helping West Ham keep six clean sheets in 14 matches – compared to one in the remaining 24 – it should come as no surprise that Premier League sides have taken note.
